In consequence, the collaboration with Thai Life Insurance is a crucial step towards Eisai’s mission of providing better health care options and innovations to people in Thailand for a better quality of life based on the company’s corporate concept of hhc for the world.”

Mr. Chai Chaiyawan, Director& Chief Executive Officer of Thai Life Insurance discloses that the aim of the company is to meet every expectation that life insurance, health insurance, and life solutions provider have to offer, by virtue of good health and happy life of the insured and the public, including particularly the eco-health system, which promotes both preventive and curative health care.

The Thai population is aging rapidly. One of the common complications among the elderly people is dementia including Alzheimer’s disease, which has become a threat to patients and their families. Considering the prevailing number of older Thais, the number of dementia cases is projected to rise from current 600,000 to 1.1 million by 20301.

In Thailand, care cost is rising especially in cases of chronic diseases. This is also the case for Alzheimer’s disease in which patients require long-term support that can affect the quality of life of their families as well. The recent technological and the medical advancements are expected to improve the quality of life for early-stage Alzheimer’s disease patients. Nevertheless, the burden of and the access issue to dementia treatment at this early stage can be expected, which may affect one’s payment ability and financial resources of the individual and his or her family by long term care of dementia.

To improve the quality of life of the insured and all Thai people, Thai Life Insurance and Eisai Thailand have consequently concluded a collaboration agreement to promote understanding and prevention of dementia in Thailand. As the first step, Thai Life Insurance and Eisai Thailand will work together to raise awareness and improve perception of dementia and brain health. Both companies will ultimately develop an effective ecosystem related to Alzheimer’s disease in collaboration with related stakeholders which promote products and services for better quality of life of the patients and their families in long-term.

As a part of our initiatives, life and health care insurance products will be developed to cover dementia including Alzheimer’s disease for the ultimate medical care access and option. This includes extension of the insurance coverage of its established products, e.g. critical illness coverage to include particularly the early-stage patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

The two companies will collaborate to provide better quality of life to Alzheimer’s disease patients and their families in Thailand.
